Montreal fires Carbonneau

10 March 2009 by: Justin Gareau No Comment

The sliding centennial team has fired head coach Guy Carbonneau on monday, after losing 10 of their 13 last games in january and february, and being 4-5-1 in their last ten.

A bit surprising since the team looked liked the Canadiens might have turned a corner beating Dallas 3-1 on sunday. Price had finally put up a good effort after looking shaky the past 2 weeks, but it wasn’t enough to save the coach… Now Bob Gainey is supposed to take over the team for the remainder of the season and playoffs if Montreal makes it in. They currently sit tied for fifth but are one point away from the bubble. Apparently there may have been something going on between Carbonneau and some of the Montreal Canadiens players, some disagreements if you will. We will never know for sure though. One thing we do know, however, is that this year, no job is safe.
