This is probably the funniest thing I’ve heard that happened during a soccer game. A yellow card was given to a U.K. soccer player for farting. That’s right! FARTING!
This occurred when a penalty kick was awarded to International Manchester against Chorlton Villa in a Manchester Publicity Sunday League game. The referee called the yellow card on the player for allegedly breaking wind as a spot kick was taken. The referee then ordered the kick to be retaken.
After the game, Chorlton’s manager defended the ruling, saying, “My gut feeling is that someone made the noise with his mouth.”
As opposed to his mouth-feeling being that someone made the noise with his gut, we suppose.
